Week 6 – From The Snake Pit

In the realm of snakes in the jungle (all of this is a 30-second Google search mind you) Norwell is a Green Anaconda swallowing everything up like a carp in the pond. This makes Columbia City a Green Tapain, striking down and destroying everything in its path. I certainly need to spend more time at the zoo at the snake exhibits. Anyway, we are past halfway through the regular season. And the NE8 is a nailbiter for runner-up to Norwell. Let’s get it Poppin!

Norwell vs. East Noble: Norwell by 14

Leo could have gone into half-time last week up three scores against EN. A fumble changed all of that. That made the game closer than it was. East Noble is always tough, but this is Norwell’s year. The boys travel from Ossian and lay the hammer in this one.

Bellmont vs. Leo: New Leo by 35

I feel bad for the Braves as they continue to fight the good fight. But with them losing multiple games by over 40 points this one is a no-brainer.

Columbia City vs. New Haven: CC by 10

This CC team is good. Very good. I think they can give any team in the NE8 a run for their money. Now they just must learn to win the second half of the season. New Haven is banged up. This game is at home for the Eagles. If they stick to the same game plan, they should set themselves up for a chance for a 6+ win season and a lot of hype going into the playoffs.

DeKalb vs. Huntington North: Huntington North by 3

DeKalb has had injury issues and defensive woes. But this is a great contest. The Vikings gave East Noble all they could handle a couple of weeks ago. For the bottom half of the division bragging rights, this is a great game to watch!

Scheme note for the week:

DeKalb air attack vs Viking defense. And Viking power run vs DeKalb defense. This game reminds you a lot of DeKalb vs CC. The Vikings have two fantastic running backs that can pound the rock and an offensive line that can open lanes. DeKalb has a high-flying offense with a top-tier passer and pass-catching weapons. The scheme note here is, which defense can win the day? Huntington North although struggling defensively has shown some TRICKY looks with bailing out of blitzes and moving pieces to the point of attack. This is a great matchup in county ball!
