Knoblauch Sets Course Record, Hendrickson Wins for Boys, Concordia Girls Win at Marion

Indiana Wesleyan University played host to the Marion Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.

The first race was the Boys’ Purple Race. Michael Herrington was the winner, and his Marion Giants took first place in the team standings. Also, Dekalb finished third place, and Bishop Dwenger took fourth.

In the Girls’ Purple Race, Dwenger’s Emily Bruns finished second place, ultimately helping her team to third place in the standings. Norwell took first with a score of 72.

Next on the docket was the Boys’ Elite Race. Concordia’s Vaughn Hendrickson was fresh off a second-place finish at Taylor last week. This week, he took first place at Marion. He had the best boys’ time in Marion that day. Fellow Cadets Hunter Panning and Nick Spielman also finished in the top 10, helping Concordia finish second place in the team standings.

In the Girls’ Elite Race, Homestead’s Addison Knoblauch won, finishing 13 seconds ahead of second place, and also set a new course record. Her Spartans finished second in the standings. Concordia had the best team score at 46. Again, Lexi Panning and Mallory Weller were the Cadets’ top two runners, only this time in reverse order.
