  1. Bellmont The Braves remain atop the poll, going 4-0 on the week, two out of the four victories coming in straight-set wins, those were against Bishop Dwenger and Bishop Luers. The Braves picked up two dominant victories in four sets as well, those wins coming against Yorktown and Avon. Delaney Lawson led the Braves finishing out the week with 62 kills.
  2. Angola The Hornets continue to SWARM picking up three victories, all in straight sets against Columbia City, Bishop Dwenger, and East Noble. Morgan Gaerte led the week for the Hornets in her return with 37 kills.
  3. Blackhawk Christian The Braves continue to roll off the 1A state championship a season ago. They finish week 1 with a 5-0 record, 4 of the wins coming in straight sets. The Braves were also crowned winners of the Southport Invite, picking up victories over New Palestine, Indianapolis Scecina Memorial, and winning the invite with a victory over Southport 2-1.
  4. Concordia The Cadets started the 2023 campaign with two victories both in straight set fashion! They defeated Indianapolis Luthern and the Homestead Spartans. The victory over Homestead opened a lot of eyes in the summit city including myself! Jersey Loyer the Butler University commit led the way with 35 kills on the week for the Cadets. Week two for Concordia doesn’t start easy at all, they will host the Bellmont Braves in THE CAGE Tuesday evening.
  5. Homestead The Spartans finish week 1 6-1. Their only loss came to the team above them in the week 1 poll, the Concordia Cadets. After losing that match in straight sets, I’m sure this Spartans squad led by the Tindall Twins and Taeley Mahler was not happy at all! Homestead went on to win 6 straight matches and claimed the title in the Penn Heck Invitational.
  6. Carroll The Chargers finished Week 1 5-1. They finished the weekend losing in their final game of the Penn Heck Invitational to Homestead 2-1. Throughout the first six games, Brenna Ginder the West Virginia University commit led the squad with 69 kills.
  7. Woodlan The Warriors start Week 1 PERFECT! Picking up an opening victory 3-1 over Busco, then winning in straight sets against New Haven and Snider. They were led in all categories by Senior OH Lauren Snyder.
  8. Norwell The Knights creep their way into the top 10 poll! They finish off week 1 with a 3-0 record, with wins over North Side, Northrop, and Heritage. The Knights were led by Seniors Vanessa Rosswurm and Jordan Xayyacheck. They will face top 10 foes Blackhawk Christian and Woodlan in week 2 of the season.
  9. Leo The Lions continue to roll! They go 3-1 on the week defeating Busco and Heritage at the West Noble Invitational. They will take on Bishop Dwenger and Bishop Luers in week 2 of play!
  10. Busco The Eagles finish week 1 with a 5-2 record. The Indiana University commit Ella Boersema and Emma Schott led the way for Busco as they went on to win two out of three of their matches in the West Noble Invitational.
