Chargers Use Seven-Run Sixth to Hold off Lions in Opener

Carroll and Leo played their baseball season opener on Monday night. The Lions pulled within one in the top of the sixth after Landen Ruoff’s 2-run double made it 6-5. But then the Chargers answered with seven runs in the bottom of the sixth. That included an RBI single by Jaxon Craker (who also hit a two-run double in the first) and a two-run single by freshman Asher Wagoner. Carroll won the game 13-5.

The Chargers are expected to have a quick turnaround. Though there is a chance of rain in the forecast, they are scheduled to host another Northeast 8 Conference team, the Columbia City Eagles (19-9 last year). That game is expected to be played tonight at 6pm.
