Chargers Walk-it-off in the Eighth on Logan Inman’s Infield Single

The 1-0 Carroll Chargers took on the 0-1 Columbia City Eagles on Tuesday night. The game was scheduled to be played at Carroll. But with rain in the area, it was moved to Huntington University’s Mike Frame Field.

Columbia City had a 6-3 lead in the middle of the fifth. Grayson Bradberry pitched five innings, giving up four runs, only one of which was earned. He also struck out eight batters. But the Chargers battled back.

Carroll tied it up at 6 a piece in the bottom of the sixth. Jaxon Craker hit a sac fly, and Asher Wagoner’s single drove in the tying run. That essentially sent the game to extra innings.

In the eighth, the Chargers loaded the bases, starting with a single by Craker. Then with two outs, Logan Inman grounded to third. Though Bradberry made a diving snag, Inman beat his throw to first, allowing Craker to score the winning run. The final score was 7-6. Inman has three RBI’s in the last two games. He even homered yesterday against Leo.

The win improves Carroll to 2-0. They will take on Jeffersonville and Floyd Central on Friday. Then on Saturday, the Chargers travel to New Albany for an 11:00 first pitch.
