With summer moving into the rearview mirror, all eyes and focus turn to fall sports in the 260.
Already, many teams have finished their scrimmages and are ready to take the court, with some
matches beginning as early as tomorrow! Before the first serve in 2025, let’s take a look at
some teams that are looking to make some noise this season.

  1. Carroll: It’s no surprise that the Chargers are the team to beat this season, not just regionally, but across Indiana as a whole. What is a surprise is that last year was their first State Title in Volleyball overall! With a slew of returning seniors, including Bailey Sinish, Lola Sassee, and a star Sophomore in Cala Haffner, the mission to repeat for a title at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in November is a major possibility.
  2. Bellmont: The Braves have the recipe of a team that wants to make a deep run in 2025, and
they have the experience in Seniors Mary Kate Scheumann and Alyssa Gumbel leading the
charge. Keep an eye on September 17th – It could be a postseason preview between the team
that’s #1 in these rankings, should the stars align!
  3. Woodlan: Fresh off a Semi-State finish in 2025, the Warriors return a core of Key Attackers and
Blockers up front in Seniors Alyssa Anderson and Makaila Gruber, along with Juniors Carsyn
Wills and Katy Bottoms. The Warriors have all the makings to repeat a magical run in 2025, if
they can also get past the next team on our list.
  4. South Adams: Few teams have as much momentum in Class 2 this season as South Adams does in 2025. Coming off a loss to Woodlan in Sectional play last season, the Starfire are primed with a slew of returning talent in Seniors Avery Brown and Reagan Bollenbacher, but also have a dynamic defensive Sophomore Duo in Ana Lehman, leading the charge with 35 blocks last season, and Reece Beitler, leading with 3.2 digs per set. Sectional 36 will be a lot of fun this October, especially if Woodlan and South Adams collide yet again in the final!
  5. Angola: Despite the Hornets finishing one match short of a Class 3 title, there is a ton of
optimism for Coach Brian Harris and crew in 2025. Led by Sr. and Illinois commit Maya Harris,
averaging 5.6 kills per set last season, she’ll have some strong help with Sr. Savannah Bixler,
and Sophomore Kendall Holman – the Hornets will be ready to make a deep run come October.
  6. Leo: What’s not to like about a team that’s rattled off 3 20+ Win seasons in a row, especially
considering the talent that continues to perform for coach Ashlee Robbins and Co.! The Lions
welcome back key players such as Seniors Emersyn Weaver and Isabella Hensley ready to lead the charge in 2025.
  7. Homestead: Another team that has rattled off 3 20+ Win seasons consecutively is also looking
to build off last year’s regional appearance, and have the key components to do so. Keep an eye
open for Junior Reagan Lyons leading the attack for the Spartans, and Senior Savy Walker
    commanding the blocks.
  8. Heritage: The Patriots have depth and experience to make some noise in 2025, and will
certainly rely on returning Seniors Alexa Walter, Ava Johnson, and Alana Nutshell commanding
the scoring for the Patriots. Junior Maya Ehrman will also be a key player to watch, netting
36.1% kill percentage last season – second highest of the returning team.
  9. Bishop Dwenger: The Saints want to make a statement to not only take home an SAC title this
season, but also take home a sectional title on Home Court this season. With Seniors Lindsay
Snyder, Nicollette Watercutter, and Junior Braelynn Hodgman, the Saints would love nothing
more than return to prime form of what the Saints have accomplished in years past.
  10. Snider: The Panthers round out our Preseason Top 10, and despite going 18-13 last season,
Snider will have a strong core of Seniors and Sophomores that could make some noise in 2025.
Senior Oriana Smiley led the way with 2.7 kills last season, while Sophomore Arielle Stephens
looks to build off a strong Freshman Campaign with a team-leading 41 blocks, and will certainly
be a strong force for the Panthers scoring this season.

Volleyball season could not come any sooner, and we at SummitCitySports could not be more
excited to bring it to you! Our 2025 season is slated to be action-packed with talent all across
the 260, with at least 26 regular-season matches and comprehensive postseason coverage.
