Week 4 – From The Snake Pit

Boy oh boy did the Bulldogs cobra strike their opponent last week! Norwell squeezed the life out of the Leo Lions like a python. And that leads us to this point. THIS is the fun of area high school football. BRING ON WEEK 4!

Norwell vs. Bellmont: Norwell by 28

The Knights are everything as described and then some. After a brutal game against Columbia City, this is no fun for the Braves.

New Haven vs. Leo: New Haven by 10

The Bulldogs defense looks to be the real deal. A challenging test here. But we cannot wait to see this Bulldog offense work in person; as our crew with Jeff, Joe, and myself will be on the call Friday night!

East Noble vs. Dekalb: East Noble by 8

Huntington North gave EN all they wanted. But a rebound game is in order. If they shut down the pass, they win the game.

Columbia City vs. Huntington North: Columbia City by 1

After the way the Vikings played last week against East Noble, we fear this game. Upset alert for CC. The Eagles are efficient and rolling but the Viking’s rushing attack is for real. Great game alert!

Scheme note for the week: Both Columbia City and Huntington North feature old-school offenses with a modern twist. The Eagles WILL pass out of the old flexbone. And the Vikings WILL show jet motion out of the old Wingback full house offense. This game will come down to defense. We are very impressed with the way that Huntington North will show three-down defensive linemen. But the great caveat is how they bring extra players to the point of attack, not only on the edge but right on the A or B gap. They blitz and bail out of that look. They will have to get wide sideline to sideline on defense. This will help the Vikings in the run stop. But can hurt if the Eagles can get Shearer or Fuller on deep crossing routes.
