The Sideline Swami’s Week 13 Regional Picks

AREA GAMES

CLASS 6A

Snider (9-2) at Carmel (9-2): One of the best playoff rivalries in the state of Indiana, Snider-Carmel seldom disappoints; the Greyhounds have won the last three matchups vs. the Panthers by a total of 7 points (including a 22-21 decision last year). Carmel is 8-4 all-time vs. Snider; the Panthers are 3-3 in games played in Hamilton County. But that’s ancient history, folks. Neither one of these teams, in my opinion, has what it takes to beat Warren Central. But one of them will be in the Final Four after tonight. My heart says Snider, but my crystal balls tell me otherwise. I’m going with Carmel at home.

SWAMI SAYS: Carmel by 10

CLASS 4A

Angola (12-0) at Bishop Dwenger (11-1): The Hornets are 24-1 since the end of the 2016 season. Their lone loss? You remember: Dwenger removed Angola’s stinger last year at the regional round in a decisive, 34-0 conquest. Both teams are pretty similar to last year’s representation, so I’m sensing another Saints smackdown. Look for an early home run via their fledgling aerial attack, and some stinginess from BD’s “D.” Could be a P-Fin sighting, too.

CLASS 3A

Mishawaka Marian (8-4) at Bishop Luers (8-4): The Knights have been licking their chops at the prospect of this rematch after Marian mauled them last year at home, 30-7. But this is a different Luers team, healthy on both sides of the ball, possessing a seasoned senior signal-caller, a bevy of weapons and a maligned defense that seems to be vastly improved in recent weeks. Indeed, revenge tastes ever so sweet. SWAMI SAYS: Luers by 4

CLASS A

Adams Central (12-0) at Monroe Central (10-2): With one common opponent (South Adams), this one figures to be all AC. Right? AC pummeled the Starfires, while MC dropped a 21-point decision vs. SA. But here’s the troof: the Flying Jets’ last two games vs. MC have been relatively tight outcomes (including a 15-12 win two seasons ago). But these Jets are flying on a different level and won’t be denied tonight. I’m envisioning two early TDs from Logan Macklin and the rout is one. AC by a bundle. SWAMI SAYS: Adams Central by 23
