The Sideline Swami’s Week 11 Sectional Picks

Of the 22 games on last week’s local docket, I correctly picked winners in 20 of them and had 11 games within one score. Additionally, there were five games accurately detailed within a single point (including two contests – Tippy Valley by 14 over Garrett; Northfield by 21 over Fremont) by the exact margin of victory. Disgusting! There’s no way my crystal balls will be equally magical this week, especially with Mother Nature meddling in my musings. Recapping last week, I’ve gotta give major props to the players, coaches and fans from Leo and East Noble. Last week’s Instant Classic in Kendallville was the blueprint of how a high school football game should be played. Unsung heroes Jackson Barbour and Kaeden Miller went all Steve Young and Jerry Rice on Leo’s game-winning drive. Who said the Lions couldn’t pass if the game was on the line?

THE SWAMI SCALE

  1. CARROLL (8-1): These Chargers are playing at a high level, though nemesis Sparty comes calling.
  2. SNIDER (7-1): With a talented O-line, sturdy ground game and tough “D,” RNS has the ingredients.
  3. LEO (10-0): The Lions likely are without Carson Hoeppner, who was one tough hombre last week.
  4. BISHOP LUERS (9-1): Next week’s sectional-title tilt vs. unbeaten Eastside looms for Luers.
  5. HOMESTEAD (6-3): The Spartans are quietly lurking; have their rematch vs. the Chargers tonight.
  6. BISHOP DWENGER (5-4): BD coach Garrett has three keys: fundamentals, fundamentals, fund …
  7. NORWELL (9-1): Norwell is almost 100% healthy and clicking on all cylinders, I dare say.
  8. EASTSIDE (10-0): Rumor has it the town of Butler will be renamed Beastside-Butlerville in 2022.
  9. ADAMS CENTRAL (9-1): Coach Mosser said AC may move this week’s game to Bluffton. Hmmm.
  10. EAST NOBLE (6-3): I’m keeping the Knights in my Top 10 after last week’s yeoman’s effort vs. Leo.
