The Sideline Swami’s Week 10 Sectional Picks

Turban’s off to the Concordia Cadets for their impressive victory last week over the North Side Legends. As GN Editor Casey O’Boyle said on Redeemer Radio last week (Tailgate Talk, which you can hear this Friday night from 6-7 on 106.3 FM), The Sideline Swami was going to get that one wrong. That fat man sure knows his stuff. Speaking of fat, the Cadets are probably a little thicker in their collective waistline after The Swami brought them a stack of pizzas from B. Antonio’s on Wednesday night. Hope you enjoyed the ‘za, boys! … This week’s Swami Scale remains the same at the top, but there were some changes on the bottom half. See below to find out if your team made the grade or not. … And be sure to check out my predictions below; I’ve selected 18 games involving area teams and I’m feeling pretty confident about my selections. As the foremost authority at picking area high school football games, yours truly takes a lot of pride in bringing you the best. Thank you for reading GameNight this fall and be sure to check out my predictions throughout the postseason right here at summitcitysports.com.

THE SWAMI SCALE

  1. HOMESTEAD (9-0): Sagarin may not be giving them much of a chance, but Swami does. I really like these Spartans! Keep your eye on the prize, men.
  2. BISHOP DWENGER (8-1): Saints know how much I love them. Oh, they know alright. Enjoy your week off, fellas, but don’t overlook those Legends.
  3. SNIDER (7-2): Tippy and his staff are tirelessly working in the lab right now for Sparty in two weeks. Now that I think of it, coach Tipp does look like an evil mastermind, doesn’t he?
  4. EAST NOBLE (9-0): Sure would be cool to see Bailey Parker and the boys in LOS. Let’s go, Knights! There could be a few roadblocks along the way, but not for awhile.
  5. SOUTH ADAMS (9-0): The Starfires’ sectional is a bonafide laugher. A legit gut-buster. Nobody will be laughing, however, until at least the regional. I really like this SA squad.
  6. WEST NOBLE (9-0): I’m fearful that the Chargers’ SOS will hold them back in the playoffs. The NECC seems to be down a little bit this year, especially in the “big” division. Just saying.
  7. CARROLL (6-3): Nobody is talking about Carroll. Could the Chargers be lurking? Have they been sandbagging the last few weeks, in anticipation of an upset over the Panthers next week?
  8. LEO (8-1): Swami liked what he saw (in person) last week from these Lions. Dangerous team, folks. Coach Sauder always has his boys playing their best at season’s end.
  9. CONCORDIA (4-5): Win tonight, Cadets, and you just may make a decent run in Class 3A. That phone-booth offense from Maconaquah doesn’t fare well when playing from behind.
  10. EASTSIDE (7-2): Coach Mason’s men have won six straight games after starting the season 1-2. But can the Blazers blaze their way to the program’s first-ever sectional crown? We’ll find out.

FEATURED MATCHUPS

Class 4A – Angola at Leo: Lions clicking on all cylinders after dismantling DeKalb a week ago. Angola just not the same team as the previous two years. Swami says: Leo by 22

Class 3A – Concordia at Maconaquah: Cadets get out to an early lead and the Braves aren’t able to play catch-up with that boring offense. Sorry, folks, it’s boring. Swami says: Concordia by 14

Class 2A – Eastside at Woodlan: Something tells me the host Warriors just may stick around in this one, especially if they hit a play-action pass early. Blazers better on the road, than home. Swami says: Eastside by 10

Class 1A – Southwood at Churubusco: Southwood is the prohibitive favorite here, but I think the Knights just might get surprised tonight in Turtle Town. If Jake Fulk rushes for 150-plus, the Eagles find a way. The Upset Special. Swami says Churubusco by 1

THE UNDERCARD

East Noble at Northridge: Knights pull away after intermission. Swami says: East Noble by 19

Columbia City at DeKalb: Barons bounce back bigly tonight. Swami says: DeKalb by 8

Huntington North at South Side: South has too much speed. Swami says: South Side by 11

New Haven at Jay County: Bulldogs bury the bone deep. Swami says: New Haven by 37

Wayne at Marion: Generals are vastly improved in recent weeks. Swami says: Marion by 18

Garrett at Jimtown: Jimmies surging at right time; Jimtown rolls. Swami says: Jimtown by 24

Lakeland at Mish. Marian: No rosaries necessary; Knights nuke ‘em. Swami says: Marian by 42

West Noble at John Glenn: Bring on the entire Mercury Program. Swami says: West Noble by 27

Bellmont at Norwell: Knights nudge forward; Braves bow out quietly. Swami says: Norwell by 35

Northwestern at Heritage: Not even a fat zebra can stop Patty. Swami says: Heritage by 6

Fairfield at Bluffton: Tigers tiptoe past the Falcons by two TDs. Swami says: Bluffton by 14

Central Noble at Bishop Luers: BL releases pent-up aggression. Swami says: Luers by 31

South Adams at Tri-Central: It’s time to let the dogs out, SA. Swami says: South Adams by 48

Caston at Adams Central: AC makes quick work of the Comets. Swami says: Adams Central by 54
