Team of the Week-Spartans on Four-Game Winning Streak Coming out of the New Year

Published on

Homestead has won four straight games since the new year began. They have beaten North Central, Ben Davis, South Side, and Concordia in that order. The Spartans currently sit at 16-2 overall and are tied with Snider for first place in the SAC.

Gabby Helsom led the Spartans in scoring three times during the winning streak; including the North Central game, where she dropped 30 points. Myah Epps scored in double figures in all four games. She scored 19 against North Central and 15 against Concordia. Whitney Ankenbruck also put up 23 points against Concordia and shot 67% from three in that game.

The Spartans were able to play great defense as well. They gave up less than 40 points in three of their last four games. Against Concordia, Liv Fry led Homestead with five steals. Carley Moellering and Myah Epps each had four steals against Ben Davis.

Homestead’s next game is tonight against Snider. Each team still has three conference games left in the season. But the winner will take the lead in the standings for the time being.
