Sparty Strikes Early, Shuts Out Bruins

Homestead came into Friday at 8-5, having won three straight games; including a win two weeks ago against a now-13-4 Norwell team.

Northrop came into Friday at 9-6 under first-year head coach Austin Mannan. The Bruins had won five of their last six games. The two teams played at Northrop’s Stavreti Field.

The Spartans struck early with two home runs; a solo shot from Bryce Yoder in the first, and a two-run jack by Jake Goode in the second. Goode would go two for four and drove in five runs.

On the mound, Mason Weaver pitched six shutout innings, striking out 11 hitters. Luke Neiswonger closed the deal with a scoreless seventh, adding a strikeout of his own. Also, watch as Sam Sosebee makes a sliding catch to seal the deal.
