Gibson, Strzelecki win at Semi-State

Concordia’s Reece Gibson posted another first-place finish, this time at the New Haven Semi-State Meet. The Cadets and the Homestead Spartans both advance to state. Dwenger’s Erin Strzelecki won the girls’ race. But it was a little closer than usual. Carroll’s Zoe Duffus took second. The Chargers will advance to state along with Homestead and Concordia. Boys runners from non-advancing teams who qualified for state were Lapel’s Luke Combs, Angola’s Izaiah Steury, Westview’s Spencer Carpenter, Southwood’s Braden Sweet, Goshen’s Drew Hogan and Cole Johnson, Yorktown’s Matthew Mitsch, Wabash’s Dereck Vogel, Snider’s Kobe Milledge, and Northridge’s Jack Moore. Girls runners who qualified from non-advancing teams were Dwenger’s Erin Strzelecki, Huntington North’s Addison Wiley, Oak Hill’s Mollie Gamble, Elkhart Memorial’s Morgan Dyer, Bishop Luers’ Sarah Busch, Norwell’s Sarah Mahnensmith and Sydney Lambert, Penn’s Brooke Neal, Woodlan’s Abbey Gentz, and DeKalb’s Lydia Bennett.
