From the Snake Pit: NE8 Week 3 Matchups

We are still early in the season and in a few weeks, things start to shake out. Can Norwell wrap up some conference foes like a Boa Constrictor? Can New Haven strike like a rattlesnake? Time will tell. For now, we look to week three!

Norwell vs. Leo: Norwell by 12

The Knights are just too powerful. Three-phase football and program continuity play favor in this one.

East Noble vs. Huntington North: East Noble by 14

East Noble is poised for a big game here. They want to let the lesser-ranking conference opponents know they are still for real.

New Haven vs. DeKalb: New Haven by 10

The Bulldogs can show they are for real with a big game here. The New Haven offense will put up points. Unfortunately for the Barons, their defense is improved too.

Columbia City vs. Bellmont: Columbia City by 14

CC is establishing the flex bone offense and the offensive line is showing more versatility. The Eagles should roll at home.

Scheme note for the week: Leo’s new offense is very interesting. Not afraid to roll into the old faithful Power T formation. And two plays later spread out into a shotgun with 3×1 or 2×2 wide receiver sets. This has both helped and hurt the Lions so far this season. If there is one defense to deter the Lions, it is the Norwell Knights. Coming into action with a base 3-4 defense, there is not a more versatile defensive front and linebacking corps in the NE8. This defense can easily shift down to 5-2 in heavy fronts. They are also well coached to bail out of blitz looks into coverage. This is one to watch!
