Keshaun Fields had a great high school football career at Wayne. This year he was the SAC’s fourth-leading rusher with 723 yards. He also averaged 4.9 yards per carry. Last year he averaged 5.2 yards per carry and rushed for 937 yards. Though Fields is looking forward to college, he greatly enjoyed his high school career.
“It was lovely,” Fields said. “I wish I could go back”.
Though Fields’ high school football career is over, he does plan to play football at the college level. He has not chosen where he will go to college. But his options include Toledo, Akron, Central Michigan, Western Illinois, and Bowling Green. If Fields chooses one of those schools, he’ll be going to college out of state.
“I will miss home a little bit,” Fields said. “But as far as college [is concerned] I would like to go somewhere further”.
Fields is still in the process of visiting some of the aforementioned universities. He plans to go on visits next month.
There are several qualities Fields is looking for in where he goes to college. Those include good chemistry with the football coaches and a school that has the program he wants to major in, which is art.
At Wayne, Fields played both running back and linebacker. He plans to play running back at the college level.
With Fields having finished his high school football career, that means someone will have to fill the void at running back. One option is Shawn Collins. He will be a junior next year. This past year, he was the Generals’ second-leading rusher. Collins rushed for 490 yards, scored five touchdowns, and averaged 6.8 yards per carry.
“I’m very confident [in Collins’ abilities],” Fields said. “He’s also been looking up to me. I think he’s going to do very well next year.”
