Blackhawk Christian Run-Rules Marquette Catholic at Semi-State, But Falls in Championship

Published on

Blackhawk Christian made it to the Class 1A Semi-State playoffs at Loeb Stadium in Lafayette. They knocked off Marquette Catholic 13-1 in five innings in the semi-final round.

Perhaps you’re familiar with the story, “Casey at the Bat”. Well, here you’ll see “Tracy” at the bat. That’s right, Reese Tracy drove in three RBIs against Marquette. He had a two-run single in the first and another RBI single in the third. That third inning saw the Braves push home six runs. Gage Sefton and Jayden Barnfield also drove in three runs a piece. Josh Jackson drove in two more.

Starting pitcher Luke Metzler went all five innings. He had six strikeouts, two hits, no walks, and one unearned run surrendered. Also, watch as Sam Schwartz fights the sun to make a tumbling catch in right field.

Blackhawk, however, would lose the Semi-State championship game to Lafayette Central Catholic 6-4. A four-run frame in the bottom of the sixth helped the Knights punch a ticket to State. The Braves were champions of the Fremont Sectional and the Logansport Regional. But their season ends at 13-13 overall.
