NEW HAVEN (2-7) at DEKALB (6-3): The Barons barely beat the Bulldogs during the regular season, so some are predicting a tighter score tonight. Could there be a B. Antonio’s hangover? Pop some Tums, boys.
SWAMI SAYS: DeKalb by 33
BISHOP DWENGER (8-1) at NORTH SIDE (5-4): These two didn’t meet during the regular season, making for an intriguing 4A opener. Will Maalik Moore suit up for the Legends? Damn right, he will. Or so I’m told.
SWAMI SAYS: Dwenger by 17
COLUMBIA CITY (7-2) at LEO (5-4): The Eagles just beat the Lions by 21 points two weeks ago, so there’s reason to believe it will be another CC triumph. I think it’s a little closer tonight, however, as the Lions show some fight.
SWAMI SAYS: Columbia City by 15
EAST NOBLE (9-0) at WAWASEE (1-8): East Noble gets a proverbial “bye” this week against a Wawasee bunch that was relatively competitive this season. Ice-fishing season is just a few months away. I love ice-fishing.
SWAMI SAYS: East Noble by 45
BISHOP LUERS (2-7) at YORKTOWN (5-4): The host Tigers have been on an emotional rollercoaster in recent weeks and have dropped 3 of their last 4 games. Will the Knights hang around tonight? Maybe. Probably.
SWAMI SAYS: Yorktown by 17
CLASS 3A
WEST NOBLE (8-1) at SB WASHINGTON (0-9): The Chargers have never won a sectional title. Never. Ever. I’m going to keep ringing that bell until Monte’s men get over the hump. Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
SWAMI SAYS: West Noble by 52
FAIRFIELD (5-4) at JOHN GLENN (1-8): I don’t care if Fairfield is playing wretched Glenn Close and a pot of boiling bunnies is on the stove. I’m taking the road Falcons by three or four TDs. No Fatal Attraction here.
SWAMI SAYS: Fairfield by 23
MISH. MARIAN (3-6) at ANGOLA (6-3): The Hornets have dropped two straight games and will be wanting to leave a stinger or two in the backside of the Knights’ collective keister. But it won’t necessarily be easy.
SWAMI SAYS: Angola by 10
GARRETT (3-6) at BLUFFTON (9-0): B-town got some B. Antonio’s last week and promptly put up a school-record 69 points. I must admit, those Tigers do enjoy their pie. But are they 100-percent healthy across the board?
SWAMI SAYS: Bluffton by 39
WOODLAN (3-6) at NORWELL (4-5): The Knights have played a slightly tougher schedule, to be sure, but the Warriors will assuredly play with tons of pride. But pride can only take you so far. Which is to Woodburn and back.
SWAMI SAYS: Norwell by 28
CONCORDIA (3-6) at ADAMS CENTRAL (6-3): This is the first-ever meeting between the two programs, though they’ll be regular foes in 2027 and beyond as the Cadets enter the ACAC. The Flying Jets dominate on the ground.
SWAMI SAYS: Adams Central by 25
BELLMONT (0-9) at HERITAGE (6-3): The Patriots have dropped three toughies to South Adams, AC and Bluffton. Bellmont, currently, doesn’t qualify as a toughie. But the Braves are definitely better. Not Hamburger Patty better.
SWAMI SAYS: Heritage by 42
CLASS 2A
BREMEN (6-3) at PRAIRIE HEIGHTS (1-8): I’d love nothing more than to see my beloved Panthers rise up and lash these Lions in Lagrange. If PH gets an early lead, a monumental upset is possible. Possible, but not probable.
SWAMI SAYS: Bremen by 15
LAKELAND (2-7) at ROCHESTER (4-5): I’ve always been partial to zebras. When it comes to the Animal Kingdom, the striped horse is flat-out awesome. Slap a spiraling horn on that sum betch, and I’m all in. Gimme Lakeland.
SWAMI SAYS: Lakeland by 6
MANCHESTER (3-6) at CENTRAL NOBLE (1-8): This one feels like both teams are ready to pack it in and start hoops season. But somebody has to win, so I’m taking the Cougars at home in this week’s Upset Special.
SWAMI SAYS: Central Noble by 1
CLASS 1A
SOUTHWOOD (2-7) at BLACKHAWK (3-6): The host Braves have never won a postseason game in their short time on the varsity gridiron. Will this be the first playoff dub for coach Bennett’s boys? I don’t see why not.
SWAMI SAYS: Blackhawk by 16
CHURUBUSCO (3-6) at SOUTH ADAMS (7-2): The Terps are 6-2 all-time against the Starfires, though the two squads haven’t met since the 2018 sectional. SA needs clear skies in the playoffs; tonight’s forecast calls for clear skies.
SWAMI SAYS: South Adams by 33
SOUTHERN WELLS (1-8) at FREMONT (6-3): According to Fremont coach Trevor Thomas, the Eagles have never won a sectional title. “The banner we have in the gym is empty,” he said. That makes me melancholy.
SWAMI SAYS: Fremont by 42
OnCAMPUS
INDIANA (6-1) at MICHIGAN (4-2): The visiting Hoosiers are probably a little bit salty after letting one slip away last week at home. That said, UM is loaded with talent and feeling good after last week’s win.
SWAMI SAYS: Indiana by 8
WESTERN MICHIGAN (5-2) at TOLEDO (5-2): The GameNight Nation is well represented in this MAC matchup, and everyone who knows The Swami knows that he loves himself some MAC-tion!
SWAMI SAYS: Toledo by 4
SACRAMENTO STATE (1-6) at BALL STATE (2-5): I like the Cardinals at home here, especially if they get a huge special-teams play early in the contest like I’m envisioning. The Hornets don’t stand a chance.
SWAMI SAYS: Ball State by 14
USC (6-1) at WISCONSIN (4-2): This one figures to be tight throughout and I’m going with the Trojans because they have a cool mascot who rides on a horse and I love horses being ridden by cool mascots.
SWAMI SAYS: USC by 3
