SuperSam’s Top Area Football Games and Picks (Week 2 Sectionals, 2024)

Published on

Postseason football begins tonight for classes 5A and 6A, while the rest of the state continues with sectional semifinal action. Here are SuperSam’s top 10 sectional games for Week 2 of the state tournament.

6A 2: Snider (7-2) @ Elkhart (8-1)

The defending state champions from last year’s 5A state tournament will have a tall task on the road against a very talented Elkhart defense. I will still take Snider, but this has the makings of a classic showdown.

5A 11: Concord (9-0) @ North Side (5-4)

On paper, North Side can compete in this game, but I do wonder if they’ll be able to generate enough offense against a defense that holds teams to 17 points per game.

4A 19: Bishop Dwenger (5-5) @ Wayne (4-5)

Coming off a dominant win over Columbia City, can the Saints make it two in a row against a talented Wayne Generals squad led by Kimar Nelson.

4A 19: East Noble (9-1) @ Leo (8-2)

This is the game of the week in this area as the Lions and Knights play in a rematch from Week 5. If this game can be any better than that of East Noble’s 35-29 win in Week 5, then we’re in for a fun one at Lions’ Field. I still like East Noble to get the job done, but don’t rule out the Leo Lions in this one.

3A 26: Garrett (10-0) @ Tippy Valley (7-3)

A sneaky 2nd round matchup in sectional 26 awaits a dominant Garrett rushing attack against a physically battle tested Tippy Valley squad. Which team can run the football, limit the turnovers, and win the battle upfront could be the team that comes up on top.

1A 44: South Adams (5-5) @ Tri (7-3)

On paper, the Starfires aerial attack will need to find momentum early against a stingy Titans defense. But the real question becomes, can the Starfires defense stop Triton’s running game that averages 5 yards per carry? I say South Adams gets it done.
