Summit Athletic Conference Rivals Northrop and Snider split a doubleheader at Norhtrop’s Stavretti Field on Saturday.
The Bruins took Game One by a score of 11-3. Pernell Whitsett struck out eight batters and threw a complete game. He currently leads Northrop with 28 strikeouts and has a 1.17 ERA. Whitsett also scored three runs and hit a home run in the fifth inning. Nathan Jessup also added a three-run homer in the sixth, which started a seven-run sixth inning.
The Panthers took Game Two by a score of 5-3. Noah Hess got the win, striking out 10 batters in 6 and a third innings pitched. Brady Keck got the save by getting the last two outs. Trevor Jarvis drove in two runs in the ballgame.
The Panthers now sit at 2-2. Their next game is Tuesday against North Side. The Bruins are now 6-2. Their next game is Monday against Carroll.
