2019 SAC Power Poll: Week 4

#1: Bishop Dwenger

Record: 3-0

Last Week: #1

Week 4: vs Homestead

The Saints have managed a relatively easy start to the season. They have now taken care of Wayne, North Side, and South Side with all being blowouts. Brenden Lytle has completed at least 50% of his passes in all three games. The defense has allowed only 12 points thus far. Things will be much more challenging this week with Homestead on the way.

#2: Snider

Record: 3-0

Last Week: #2

Week 4: vs South Side

Snider has been just as dominant as they were expected to be, though their win against Concordia took a little more effort. There next game against South Side will be a chance to tune up some things on both sides of the ball to prepare the Panthers for the rest of their season. Watch out for Lenny Bennett to have another 100 yd game.

#3: Homestead

Record: 3-0

Last Week: #3

Week 4: at Bishop Dwenger

The Spartans have proven that they can be explosive on both sides of the ball. The Spartans are averaging 43.0 points as a team and, like Dwenger, have only allowed 12 points. Now it’s time to prove it against a quality opponent. 3 of their next 4 games, Dwenger, Snider, and Carroll, will go a long way in deciding if this is finally Homestead’s year to win the SAC.

#4: Carroll

Record: 2-1

Last Week: 4

Week 4: vs Northrop

Carroll rebounded after a loss quite nicely. Their 42-0 victory over North Side shows that Carroll is capable of getting it done on both offense and defense. They will get to showcase their talent against a suddenly optimistic Northrop team, before they play a big game at Dwenger.

#5: Concordia

Record: 1-2

Last Week: #5

Week 4: at Bishop Luers

Things appeared to be shaping up for the Cadets to at least have a chance to pull off an upset vs Snider in the second half. However, things got out of hand again for Concordia and they ended up falling to 1-2. This week they’ll need a big performance from RB Amir Drew to beat a Luers team that is in a similar spot right now.

#6: Northrop

Record: 2-1

Last Week: #9

Week 4: at Carroll

Northrop took the largest leap in our rankings this week after beating Wayne in a nailbiter. There is still lots of work to do, with little time to do it before Carroll. However the offense led by RB Jeremiah Green, who ran for 164 yds and 3 TDs last week, is capable of hanging with Carroll. For now though, Northrop will try to stay focused on improving, especially with not turning the ball over late.

#7: Bishop Luers

Record: 1-2

Last Week: #6

Week 4: vs Concordia

Luers inexperience has been a problem through the first three weeks of the season, as teams like Carroll and Homestead have disallowed them from scoring any points. Facing Concordia is a chance for the Knights to get back to .500 on the year.

#8: Wayne

Record: 0-3

Last Week: #7

Week 4: vs North Side

Despite a valiant effort by RB Keshaun Fields, who has rushed for 275 yds and 3 TDs this year, Wayne just hasn’t been the same. This week we’ll see either Wayne or North Side get their first win of the year. The team that loses will go to 0-4.

#9: North Side

Record: 0-3

Last Week: #8

Week 4: at Wayne

North Side is now past the most difficult part of their schedule and have fallen to 0-3. If that doesn’t catch your attention this will: the Legends have been outscored 129-0 this year. Hopefully, they get on the board against Wayne in week 4.

#10: South Side

Record: 0-3

Last Week: #10

Week 4: at Snider

The Archers are still winless over the last two seasons after suffering a blowout loss to Dwenger on Friday. The silver lining? It’s hard to find one with Snider and Carroll both on the schedule within the next three weeks.
