Week 7 SAC Game Predictions

Homestead (6-0) at Carroll (4-2)

Prediction: Homestead wins 38-21

This is Homestead’s biggest challenge remaining on their schedule. Carroll and Homestead will headline rivalry week, with the stakes being high due to Homestead’s 6-0 record hanging in the balance. However, this game means a lot to both schools in terms of bragging rights. If you don’t believe us, just check each student section’s social media. Homestead has beaten Carroll every time since each joined the SAC, winning the last 4.

With this bad blood between the two schools, expect a very entertaining game. Carroll QB Jeff Becker suffered a bruised shoulder/collar last week, but should be ready to start in this game. Becker (1,114 yds, 11 TD, 53.8% comp) trails only Homestead QB Luke Goode (1,575 yds, 17 TD, 62.7% comp) in total yards, with Goode obviously being way out in front in every category this year. Goode has only thrown 1 INT this year, but now he faces the team with the most this year. Carroll has 10 interceptions this season and that total still doubles the 5 interceptions that a few other teams have that are in second. Carroll and Homestead is going to be a hard-fought, emotional game. Carroll could keep it close, but there’s only so much they can do against a team with weapons like RB Braeden Hardwick (860 yds, 6.8 yds/car, 14 TD) and WR Griffin Little (331 yds, 23 rec, 5 TD) all over the field.

Snider (5-1) at Northrop (4-2)

Prediction: Snider wins 31-14

The two teams that share Spuller Stadium will meet on Friday night. This time Snider will be the away team on their home field. Northrop has survived time and time again this season, but they have yet to beat one of the SAC’s giants. Snider has gone 4-0 against Northrop since the Summit Athletic Conference expanded in 2015, and most of the games haven’t been close. The Bruins will have to play a near-perfect game in order to knock off the Panthers. That means that WR Qualen Pettus (336 yds, 24 rec, 2 TD) and RB Jeremiah Green (457 yds, 4.8 yds/car, 5 TD) will need to have big games, and QB Dylan Hoot (515 yds, 4 TD, 47.0% comp) who has 8 interceptions this year will need to avoid turning the ball over. Snider’s defense will be tough to move the ball on and should keep Northrop’s offense in check.

Bishop Luers (1-5) at Bishop Dwenger (5-1)

Prediction: Dwenger wins 35-7

This was one of the closest games Dwenger played all year in 2018. The final score in last season’s game was 15-13 Saints. Dwenger has won 3 of the last 4 against Luers, with Dwenger’s 3 wins being very close. 7 points is the most the Saints have won by in that period. Now, with much of last year’s Luers team gone, things could be a little more comfortable. The Saints were able to get QB Brenden Lytle out of a mini-slump last week, as he threw for 227 yds, 2 TD, and completed 76.5 of his passes. If the Knights are unable to stop he and RB Louie Tippmann, who has 396 yds, averaging 6.4 a game, then it will be a long game in what has already been a long season for Luers.

North Side (2-4) at South Side (1-5)

Prediction: South Side wins 42-35

It’s almost required that a team with “North” in its name, must be rivals with a team that has “South” in its name. North Side vs South Side is always a great game. The two teams have each won two games since 2015. This year’s edition could be great again with playmakers on both sides. For North Side, it has been RB Alex Holliday-Robinson who has been lighting it up lately, with 343 yds and 3 TD over his last two games. Meanwhile, South Side QB Demere Clark has also gotten hot, with 377 yds and 5 TD over his last two games. If they both play well again, we could see quite the shootout. We’ll take South Side in a bit of a surprising win over the Legends.

Concordia (2-4) at Wayne (0-6)

Prediction: Concordia wins 24-21

Both teams have not been happy with their results recently. The Generals, still searching for their first win, will likely have one last chance with Homestead and Carroll to round out their schedule. The Generals have gotten the most out of RB Keshaun Fields this year. He has ran for 503 yds and 7 TD, averaging 4.7 yds/car. Despite how well Fields has played, Wayne has yet to get anything going at any other position. Concordia’s high powered offense has done well behind QB Brandon Davis (1,062 yds, 10 TD, 50.4% comp) and looks to do more damage against Wayne. However, after the recent losses Concordia has suffered against Northrop and Dwenger, expect them to be a little less motivated for this game against Wayne.
