Bishop Dwenger (4-1) at Concordia (2-3)
Prediction: Dwegner wins 35-7
Dwenger has struggled to put up points over the last couple of weeks. But those were stiffer defenses and now they’ll face a Concordia team that has allowed 30+ points on four occasions this year, all resulting in losses. Dwenger should have little trouble scoring points this week. The key will be to stop the Cadets offense led by RB Amir Drew (450 yds, 90.0 yds/game, 6 TD) and WR Jalen Vanderbosch (368 yds, 73.6 yds/game, 23 rec), both of which have torched defenses this year. However, Dwenger’s defense is tough and should be able to keep those two under wraps, boosting them to a win.
Homestead (5-0) at North Side (2-3)
Prediction: Homestead wins 42-0
We know how good Homestead is now. The question for this week will be if they can maintain their focus on this game, after winning a huge game against Snider and with Carroll on the schedule for next week. This will be North Side’s last really tough game of the year, after they played Snider, Dwenger, and Carroll in consecutive weeks to open their season. The have won both games since that stretch and have gotten back onto their feet. RB Alex Holliday-Robinson has struggled this season, rushing for only 239 yds and 1 TD, before last week’s stellar performance in which he ran for 121 yds and 2 TD. He will need another great game in order for the Legends to compete in this game, though.
Northrop (3-2) at Bishop Luers (1-4)
Prediction: Northrop wins 38-21
The Bruins continue to show a lot of fight this year and have won some close, gritty games and they have an opponent this week that could help boost their record even more. WR Qualen Pettus (234 yds, 46.8 yds/game, 18 rec) should make his mark on the game receiving passes from QB Dylan Hoot (354 yds, 70.8 yds/game) who has heated up lately. Until, the Knights can show the same fight as Northrop, expect the Bruins to win this game.
Carroll (3-2) at South Side (1-4)
Prediction: Carroll wins 41-0
The Chargers look to treat this as a tune up game for Homestead next week, but that doesn’t make it any less important. QB Jeff Becker (928 yds passing, 365 yds rushing, 13 TD) has cooled off a bit since getting off to a fast start, but he has remained effective as a dual-threat quarterback in the SAC. Probably the most intriguing stat is about the Carroll defense. They lead the SAC in sacks with 15.0, about 3.0 per game. They also have double the interceptions of any other team in the conference with 8 in total. We’ll see if they add to those amazing totals on Friday against the Archers.
Wayne (0-5) at Snider (4-1)
Prediction: Snider wins 52-0
This will be a nice bounce-back game for the Panthers after losing to Homestead last week. This will be a chance for QB Jon Barnes Jr (739 yds, 10 TDs, 0 INT) to help his numbers to continue to stand out. This will also be a confidence booster for the Panthers after they couldn’t figure things out against the Spartans. Wayne comes in winless and desperate for any win they can get. They will likely fall to 0-6 after going up against a very talented Snider team this week.
