The Sideline Swami’s Week 10 Sectional Picks

Published on

Ah, the playoffs – that magical time of the year when memories are made and the second season summons. Tonight, Class 6A and 5A are taking a bye-week breather, while the lower four classes get underway. Locally speaking, the best matchups are in 4A (Leo at East Noble) and 1A (Adams Central at Churubusco). For my money, I’m going with both undefeated teams to remain that way for at least another week. For the others, it’s time to put up or shut up. As coach Egts always said, “Don’t get bitter, get better.” I like that more than “Build Back Butter.”
THE SWAMI SCALE

  1. CARROLL (8-1): Exactly where we started the season – with the Chargers atop Mount Swami.
  2. SNIDER (7-1): These Panthers loaded up on some B. Antonio’s pizza this week. Tasty, I’m told.
  3. BISHOP LUERS (8-1): Time for the second season, where the Knights are big-time favorites.
  4. LEO (9-0): I was ready to leapfrog the Lions to the top spot, but last week’s slog was uninspiring.
  5. HOMESTEAD (6-3): The Spartans are quietly lurking, awaiting their rematch vs. the Chargers.
  6. BISHOP DWENGER (5-4): The Saints are quietly lurking, awaiting their rematch vs. the Panthers.
  7. NORWELL (8-1): The Knights actually dropped a spot after last week’s win over CC. Sorry, dudes.
  8. EASTSIDE (9-0): Beastside High has its sights set on Luers in the sec-title tilt. Be patient, men.
  9. ADAMS CENTRAL (8-1): Could the Flying Jets get shot down tonight in the Town of Turtles?
  10. EAST NOBLE (6-2): Last year, EN turned the tables on the unbeaten Lions. A repeat in ’21?
