Columbia City in 8-0 and has reached number one in the IBCA coaches’ poll. The week before Thanksgiving they beat Snider and Valparaiso. During Thanksgiving week the Eagles knocked off Goshen and Hamilton Southeastern. They beat Goshen 62-24 on the road, and they are the first team to beat HSE this year. The Eagles held the Royals to a season-low 51 points. This week, the Eagles have kept the winning going. They beat Bishop Dwenger 81-36 on Tuesday. That snapped a three-game winning streak that the Saints were on.
Several players have contributed to Columbia City’s success. In the Goshen game; Anisa Tonkel, Molly Baker, and Addie Baxter all scored in double figures. In the Hamilton Southeastern game; Baxter and Tessa Tonkel each had four assists, while Kyndra Sheets added three. Against Dwenger; Baxter and Sheets each scored over 20 points, and Baker scored 12 of her own.
Columbia City is scheduled to play three Northeast 8 Conference rivals this month. They are at Leo tonight at 7:30. Then on December 8th, they host Norwell. On December 16th, they host East Noble.
