Starfire ace strikes out 18 in win over Spartans

FORT WAYNE – Katelin Augsburger fanned 18 batters and allowed one-hit to lead South Adams to a 2-0 win over Homestead in high school softball.
With the win, the Starfires improve to 8-0. They’ll return to action Wednesday at Randolph-Southern. At the plate, Taylor Augsburger was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and an rbi. Alberson finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and a double. Alexis Dellinger was 2-for-3.
In the top of the sixth innnng, Alberson reached on a bunt down the third base line. She advanced to second baseball one batter later and would score on a two-out double by Taylor Augsburger.
Augsburger’s courtesy runner Anna Nussbaum dashed home two from second as Cassandra Evans reached on a fielding error by first baseman Savana Harless to give the Starfires a commanding 2-0 lead.
