Spartans Outlast Rival Chargers in a One-Run Ballgame

Homestead defeated rival Carroll 5-4 at Fort Wayne’s ASH Centre on Tuesday night. Homestead starter Cole Elkins and Carroll starter Josh Kuhns each pitched 4.67 innings. Elkins gave up three runs (two earned) and struck out 10 hitters. Kuhns gave up three runs (all earned) and struck out seven. Alex Smith, Kaleb Kolpien, and Brennen Wiegert each drove in two runs in the game. The Spartans improve to 15-3, and the Chargers fall to 12-4.
