Bishop Dwenger improved to 13-0 in SAC play with tonight’s win against Snider at Hawley Field.
Lucas Collins pitched five and two thirds innings striking out nine hitters. He struck out the side in the fourth, and then in the fifth, he got two of his three outs via the strikeout.
Eddie Miller scored the Saints first run and drove in two runs. He had an RBI groundout in the fourth that drove in KC Pieper. Miller also drove home Braden Aguirre with an infield single.
Snider got an RBI single from Aaron Brewer in the sixth and an RBI infield single from Brady Keck in the seventh which helped them tie the game at 4. But in the eighth inning, Braxton Bermes hit a sacrifice fly that gave Dwenger a 5-4 lead. After that, Miller’s infield single made it 6-4. The Panthers answered with a Trevor Jarvis sac fly in the bottom of the eighth. But the Saints caught Cam Davis in a rundown. Michael Maddy hustled to make the tag to end the game.
Dwenger will play Snider again on Thursday, followed by a doubleheader against Jimtown on Saturday, and their first round sectional game against Garrett next Wednesday.
Snider plays Bishop Luers today before their Thursday rematch with Dwenger. They’ll close out the regular season with a Saturday doubleheader against Penn. Then, the Panthers will play their first round game in Sectionals against DeKalb.
