1. Norwell
Week 2: 42-0 win over Heritage
Previous Ranking: #1
Week 3: at Leo
The Knights are rolling. This was our pick for NE8 conference champion, and they continue to
not disappoint. This week against Leo will tell us more.
2. East Noble
Week 2: 35-14 loss against Northwood
Previous Ranking: #2
Week 3: @ Huntington North
#2 and #3 are still a toss-up. The point is we take a hard-fought EN loss to a good Northwood team in higher esteem than Leo winning by one score over Angola. Next week tells the tale.
3. Leo
Week 2: 21-14 win over Angola
Previous Ranking: #3
Week 3: vs Norwell
Congrats to Leo’s new Head Football Coach on his first program win. Now we must see how the offense gels and how the Lions stack up against a formidable opponent. They get it this week against Norwell.
4. New Haven
Week 2: 35-26 loss against Eastbrook
Previous Ranking: #4
Week 3: @ Dekalb
New Haven is slowly becoming a dark horse in this conference. This week will be a great litmus test against a conference foe. But a close loss to Eastbrook has them ready to sneak up the chart.
5. Columbia City
Week 2: 21-14 loss against Delta
Previous Ranking: #5
Week 3: vs Bellmont
We have CC above Dekalb like how EN is still over Leo. Although CC lost, Delta is a tougher game than Dekalb’s win over Garrett. Columbia City is in the easier portion of their schedule. So, it will be tough for them to climb up the ladder until later in the season when they show their team against the likes of East Noble and Norwell.
6. DeKalb
Week 2: 42-20 win over Garrett
Previous Ranking: #6
Week 3: vs New Haven
This was a big win showing the Barons could close a game out in the second half. Now we must see if Dekalb can beat a better opponent. The game this week against the best NE8 wide receiver in Mylan Graham as well as an improved Bulldog defense will show a lot.
7. Huntington North
Week 1: 34-14 win over Jay County
Previous Ranking: #7
Week 3: vs East Noble
The Vikings got a nice win against Jay County. Unfortunately, they face East Noble this week. East Noble is a heavy favorite. What a great time it could be for a Huntington North upset and a chance to move up the chart.
8. Bellmont
Week 1: 41-7 loss against South Adams
Previous Ranking: #8
Week 3: @ Columbia City
The Braves got handled by South Adams. But don’t let this fool you because outside of Adams Central, South Adams handles mostly everyone. Bellmont has a chance this week against the CC Eagles. It will be a tall order as this is a big home game in Columbia City. It is youth league recognition night, and the Eagles will be ready. An upset here gives them a chance to move up the chart.
