Homestead senior Karissa McLaughlin was named the IBCA/Subway Player of the Week for District 1

The 5-8 McLaughlin averaged 32.0 points over three games for the Homestead girls (20-2). The Florida recruit scored 29 points with five rebounds, four assists and two assists in a 64-49 setback to Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne. She followed with a school-record 40 points – hitting a school-record 12 3-pointers – with four rebounds, four assists and four steals in a 100-17 thrashing of Fort Wayne North. McLaughlin added 27 points with six assists and three steals in an 86-62 victory over Heritage Christian. Over three games, McLaughlin was 31-of-60 from the field, 23-of-37 on 3-pointers and 11-of-13 on free throws.
