Homestead Beats Goshen, Advances to State Tennis Quarterfinals; Leo Falls to Noblesville

Homestead was host to Semi-State boys’ tennis on Saturday. The eighth-ranked Spartans were playing host to Goshen. Leo was also taking on 24th-ranked Noblesville.

Homestead beat Goshen 3-2. The Spartans took two out of three singles matches. Stephen Meier swept Pi Wellington, winning set one 6-2 and set two 6-1. Ben Garrean swept Isaac Stahly, winning set one 6-1 and set two 6-2. The doubles team of Alex Graber and Eric Ji swept Goshen’s Kyan Miller and Myles McGlaughlin, winning both sets 6-0. With the win, the Spartans advance to the state quarterfinals this coming Friday at Carmel High School.

Leo won two out of three singles’ matches. Evan Winters beat Noblesville’s Ethan Feliciano, winning set one 6-4 and set two 6-0. Isaac Copeland swept Coleman Kratz, winning set one 6-1 and set two 6-4. But Noblesville would beat Leo 3-2. They swept both doubles matches and won the three singles match. With the win, the Millers advance to the state quarterfinals this coming Friday at Center Grove High School.
