Homestead and Concordia Top Schlemmer Elite Race, Hayden Kemple Sets Record in Boys’ Gold Race

Indiana Wesleyan hosted the Marion Cross Country Invitational on Saturday. It featured six varsity races (10 races all-together). For the Northeast Indiana schools, Homestead and Concordia had some of the best showings.

Homestead won the Chuck Schlemmer Girls Elite Race with a score of 51. The Spartans had two top 10 finishers. Caterina Perego finished seventh with a time of 18:12.8, and Lucy Kramer finished ninth with a time of 18:21.9.

Concordia came in second in the Schlemmer Girls Elite Race. They too had two top 10 finishers. Mallory Weller finished fourth with a time of 17:52, and Daphne Weller finished sixth with a time of 18:09.1.

A record was broken in the Boys’ Gold Race. Clinton Prairie’s Hayden Kemple won with a time of 15:32.21, setting a new record for that particular race. He also finished 58 seconds ahead of runner-up Hunter Drain from DeMotte Christian.
