Leo girls’ basketball is 2-0 with wins over Lakeland and Heritage. Defense has been a big key to that success. The Lady Lions held Lakeland to 16 points and forced 16 steals. Then they held Heritage to 23 points.
Leah Shappell is currently Leo’s leading scorer. She averages 14.5 points per game. Kayla Adams is the Lions’ leading rebounder. She averages 9.5 boards per game. Adams is coming off a double double (11 points, 10 rebounds) against Heritage.
Also, several guards have contributed to Leo’s success. Malina Lape is coming off back-to-back double-digit scoring performances. She also had four steals against Lakeland. Emily Cogdell scored 11 points against Lakeland. And Abby Bovie has picked up six steals in the first two games.
The lady Lions are in action again tonight against Churubusco. They expect the Eagles to play some up-tempo basketball.
