Cadets Look to Sophomore Running Back, Junior Receivers, and Physical Defense in 2023

Published on

Concordia is coming off a 4-7 season last year. They are expected to start sophomore Victor Sawyer at running back this year. He had 32 carries as a freshman and averaged 4.2 yards per carry.

The Cadets will also have a new starter at quarterback this year. Currently Carter Ripke, Jack Andrews, and Bradan Corbett.

The team is very confident in the receivers it brings back this year, even though leading receiver Ajani Washington has transferred to New Haven. Second-leading receiver Noah Trent returns. He averaged 10 yards per catch on the season. Avery Cook is another returning receiver. He caught seven passes for 32 yards.

Cook is also part of the Cadets’ secondary. He returns this year at cornerback, while Evan Stipp is expected to play free safety. Those two led the Cadets in interceptions last year. Also, linebacker Zack Spielman has been impressive in practice so far.
