Bruins Use 8-Run Third and 5-Run Fifth to beat Braves in the Rain

Blackhawk Christian and Northrop played a five inning game in the rain. The Bruins won the game 15-0.

Each team stopped a stolen base attempt in the first inning. Blackhawk’s Parker Bennett threw out Northrop’s Pernell Whitsett. But then the Bruins stopped a Braves’ double steal attempt. Jayden Sloniker threw Bennett out at the plate for a scoreless first.

Landen Hirsch gave Northrop the lead with a sac-fly in the second inning. That was part of a two-run frame. Then the Bruins scored eight runs in the 10th, including a two-run single by Jayden Stout. After that, Northrop scored five runs in the fifth to ultimately close out the game.

Nolan Wilson pitched the whole way, throwing a shutout, striking out six hitters, and only walking one.

Northrop improves to 9-5. They’re scheduled to play a doubleheader at Homestead today. However, the forecast is calling for rain. Blackhawk Christian falls to 2-4. They’re scheduled to play a doubleheader at Leo, again weather permitting.
