Week 11 was a combination of big wins from teams in the area, and big defeats as well. Through it all, a lot of players stepped up and played tremendous games worth a second look.
Zander Brazel – QB, East Noble
Zander Brazel gave it his all in his final game as an East Noble Knight, throwing for 309 yards, five touchdowns, and no interceptions in a heartbreaking 45-42 loss to Leo. His brilliance through the ball kept East Noble in this game, but it just wasn’t enough to overcome a Lions team that had a response for every one of his drives.
The Garrett Defense vs Heritage
Up against the ACAC’s most prolific QB, Kobe Meyer, it seemed like the Railroaders would have some trouble with the Heritage offense. However, Garrett held strong and then some, allowing just 173 all-purpose yards from Meyer in a 20-6 victory. Furthermore, Garrett forced four turnovers, including interceptions by Calder Hefty (who also forced and recovered a fumble), Kaidin Colburn, and Brayden Nusbaum. Incredible showing by this defensive unit.
Cruz Pursley – LB, Homestead
Homestead’s defense struggled most of the night in a 42-14 loss to Fishers, but senior linebacker Cruz Pursley didn’t give up much throughout the night. With a team-leading 15 tackles and a forced fumble, his play was one of the few bright sides in an otherwise disappointing showing for the Spartans.
Snider on All Three Phases vs Anderson
Snider scored on both sides of the ball in a 44-14 drubbing of Anderson, with plenty of scores on offense (including two by Uriah Buchanan) and a pick-six by Landen Fry. To add to the scoring, Jamarion Kolagbodi gave Snider its first points with a 45-yard punt return in the first quarter. Another great game by the Panthers.
Carter Minix – WR, Bishop Dwenger
In Dwenger’s 42-28 win over DeKalb, Minix used his five receptions just about as effectively as he could with 145 yards and two touchdowns. The senior continues to make a big impact on this Saints offense.
