NOTRE DAME, Ind. – V.J. Beachem is looking to go pro. The New Haven grad announced Tuesday he’s entering the NBA draft. But, he’s leaving the door open to a possible return to Notre Dame.
He said won’t hire an agent, a move that will preserve his NCAA eligibility. If he doesn’t like the draft he’s free rejoin the Irish. That’s something Notre Dame coach Mike Brey recommended, rather than jumping in with both feet.
Brey said it would give him a “better understanding” of his NBA future and maximize his potential in basketball.
Notre Dame reached the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight before being ousted by National Finalist North Carolina.
Beachem was named to the East Regional All-Tournament team.
He averaged 12.0 points per game and 3.9 rebounds this season.
