Leo senior Isaiah Coolman (6’2”, 290 lbs) is one of the most athletic linemen in the state. A three-year starter for the Lions, he earned First Team All-NE8 honors last season and continues to power a rushing attack that averages 7.6 yards per carry and 284 yards per game for Head Coach Jason Doerffler, ranking among the best in Indiana.

Coolman’s athleticism extends beyond football. He placed 5th at the IHSAA State Wrestling Meet as a heavyweight and was named Boys Division II MVP with the Leo Rugby Club.

In the classroom, he carries a 3.9 GPA while balancing three sports.

The Lions are off to a 4-0 start and face another unbeaten in East Noble (4-0) this Friday — a matchup with major NE8 title implications. Check out the 5 to Know with Isaiah Coolman below!

Who or what has had the biggest impact on your athletic journey so far?

My Mom, Dad and wrestling have had the most positive impacts on my journey.

What’s your pregame routine or ritual that gets you locked in?

I like to stay loose before I lock in, so I usually sing and dance just to calm the nerves.

What’s your proudest moment in sports — and why does it stand out?

Placing 5th in state last year. I think it stands out because it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever accomplished so far.

What are your goals — both short-term and long-term — in your sport or beyond?

To win state in wrestling, play football in college and become a orthopedic surgeon.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you — on or off the field?

I love God, fishing, hunting, and the great outdoors.

Up Next: It’s one of the best rivalries in the state over the past 10 years when Leo travels to East Noble this Friday, 7pm kickoff!
