2019 SAC Power Poll: Week 7

#1: Homestead

Record: 6-0

Last Week: #1

Week 7: at Carroll

Homestead looks to still be en route to an undefeated conference record after another dominant performance against North Side. One big challenge still looms on their path to a conference championship and that will be when they meet Carroll this week. They are averaging a crazy 40.3 points a game and 434.7 yds a game. Unfortunately, Luke Goode threw his first interception of the year, but he still leads all SAC QB’s with 1,575 yds and 17 TD.

#2: Bishop Dwenger

Record: 5-1

Last Week: #2

Week 7: vs Bishop Luers

The Saints march on with a win over Concordia and have their sights set on taking down Luers this week. QB Brenden Lytle just played his best game on Friday with 224 yds and 2 TDs and looked more comfortable in the pocket. They now have over 1,000 yds in passing, rushing, and receiving this year. They are definitely still a team to watch in the postseason.

#3: Snider

Record: 5-1

Last Week: #3

Week 7: at Northrop

There’s plenty for Snider to be proud of this season. They lead the SAC in rushing with 1,599 yds on the ground, a stat that shows how effective Lenny Bennett, Kameron Trotter, and even QB Jon Barnes Jr. have been. Snider is a hard team to beat right now, as they are extremely focused and it shows on the field as they’ve about a 1,000 yd edge over their opponents this year.

#4: Carroll

Record: 4-2

Last Week: #4

Week 7: vs Homestead

Carroll struggled early against South Side, but they were able to muster out a victory. QB Jeff Becker continues to show that he’s elite both passing and rushing, as he’s now reached 1,000 yds through the air and nearly 400 yds on the ground! No other SAC QB has both of those stats! The sophomore has gotten a lot of help from his wideout Layton Mithcell, who leads SAC WR’s with 474 yds and 8 TD. Their next game is huge, as they look to knock off Homestead.

#5: Northrop

Record: 4-2

Last Week: #5

Week 7: vs Snider

You may think you have Northrop beat, but they have seemingly always found a way to win this year, most recently against Bishop Luers. WR Qualen Pettus has had a great year with 336 yds and 24 rec. He should continue to be used at a high volume with Snider and Dwenger still left on the docket.

#6: Concordia

Record: 2-4

Last Week: #6

Week 7: at Wayne

The Cadets had another loss that could have gone their way. Dwenger may have won in a blowout, but Concordia had their chances to get into the game. One of the things Concordia lacked on Friday was a passing game, which they’d like to get rolling again with a wide receiver like Jalen Vanderbosch (388 yds, 26 rec, 3 TD).

#7: North Side

Record: 2-4

Last Week: #7

Week 7: at South Side

Alex Holliday-Robinson was magnificent once more on Friday with 192 yds and 1 TD, averaging 8.7 yds per carry. He would love to have a third straight 100 yds game against the Archers.

#8: Bishop Luers

Record: 1-5

Last Week: #8

Week 7: at Bishop Dwenger

The Knights haven’t had a great year, but they were competitive against Northrop on Saturday. QB Christian Fly has quietly had a pretty good night too, 114 yds and 1 TD was one of the best games of his season.

#9: South Side

Record: 1-5

Last Week: #9

Week 7: vs North Side

South Side played Carroll tough for a couple of quarters, but they came up short. The Archers will look to get win #2 of the year against the Legends.

#10: Wayne

Record: 0-6

Last Week: #10

Week 7: vs Concordia

The Generals have one more realistic shot at a win and it’s this week vs Concordia. A loss, and they’ll be staring 0-10 right in the face with Homestead and Carroll there to round out their year.
