#1: Homestead
Record: 5-0
Last Week: #1
Week 6: at North Side
Homestead still has yet to be stopped as they tighten their grip on the SAC. A big win over Snider has put Homestead in a prime position to win the conference. But as anyone on the team will tell you, they’re taking it one game at a time. Still, no one is within reach of averaging Homestead’s 39.0 points a game and 27 touchdowns. QB Luke Goode has now reached the 1,000 yd mark with 1,217 in total. Also, he has yet to throw a pick. It will be tough to knock Homestead out of the top spot in these rankings.
#2: Bishop Dwenger
Record: 4-1
Last Week: #3
Week 6: at Concordia
Dwenger has moved up to second in our rankings after winning an ugly game with Carroll. They were in jeopardy of losing this game, but they found a way to win and that’s all that matters. The leading rusher from Friday was Louie Tippmann, who ran for 108 yds on 17 attempts. QB Brenden Lytle struggled on Friday, only throwing for 93 yds and 1 INT on 13 of 21 passing. The running game will look to dominate Concordia next and give Dwenger another to give them momentum down the stretch.
#3: Snider
Record: 4-1
Last Week: #2
Week 6: vs Wayne
Snider’s loss at the hands of Homestead was a tough one to swallow. However, they will have to move on like Dwenger did and aim to win out. It’s important to remember that this team is still deadly this year. RB Lenny Bennett is a great example as he has 522 yds, 6 TD, and 0 fumbles. And he’s doing this while RB Kameron Trotter has 348 yds, 5 TD, and also no fumbles. Both of them are top 5 RBs in the conference, which speaks volumes about the depth on this team. Don’t sleep on the Panthers.
#4: Carroll
Record: 3-2
Last Week: #4
Week 6: at South Side
Carroll couldn’t capitalize on a few key opportunities against Dwenger and it cost them the game. It essentially gets rid of any conference championship hopes Carroll may have had. Still, they have to be pleased with the play of QB Jeff Becker this year (928 yds and 10 TD) and will look to spoil Homestead’s season in a couple of weeks. Before then, they’ll have to beat a rejuvenated South Side team on the road.
#5: Northrop
Record: 3-2
Last Week: #6
Week 6: at Bishop Luers
Northrop has won some close games over the course of this year and they will look to continue to do so. RB’s Damarius Cowen and Jeremiah Green have been fantastic this year, combining for 639 yds and 7 TD. Good luck stopping both of them and now QB Dylan Hoot who threw for 158 yds and 2 TD in his last game.
#6: Concordia
Record: 2-3
Last Week: #5
Week 6: vs Bishop Dwenger
Concordia’s demoralizing loss to Northrop in OT puts the Cadets below .500. We’ll see if they decide to lean more on their ground game led by Amir Drew (450 yds, 6 TD, 5.1 yds/car) against a fantastic Dwenger defense next week.
#7: North Side
Record: 2-3
Last Week: #7
Week 6: vs Homestead
If North Side could get more performances out of RB Alex Holliday-Robinson like they did on Friday, they would be very pleased. He had 151 yds, 2 TD, and averaged 7.6 yds/car and will look to do more of the same against Homestead this week.
#8: Bishop Luers
Record: 1-4
Last Week: #8
Week 6: vs Northrop
It has not been a fun season for the Knights. Another loss to North Side on Friday adds to a disappointing season for this young team. We’ll see if they can turn it around at Northrop.
#9: South Side
Record: 1-4
Last Week: #10
Week 6: vs Carroll
The Archers are now in the win column and have broken their streak of 17 losses in a row dating back to 2017. They’ll have their hands full with Carroll coming up next.
#10: Wayne
Record: 0-5
Last Week: #9
Week 6: at Snider
The Generals have hit rock bottom and things may not get any better, with Snider, Concordia, Homestead, and Carroll on their schedule to round out their year.
