COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. – In September Columbia City High School’s Brachen Hazen signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Central Florida.

Those plans have changed. The 6-8 forward has been released from his commitment.

The Knights fired Donnie Jones March 11, after a 12-18 season. Former Duke standout Johnny Dawkins was hired to lead the program March 22.

In 26 games, Hazen averaged 16.1 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per contest. Columbia City lost in the Class 4A regional to eventual state champ Marion.
