This past Saturday the 70th annual North Side relay took place at North Side High School.
There were many very competitive events first up the 3200 as Tommy Claxton won it for Goshen with a time of 9:44.
Next the 300 meter hurdle as Homestead Spartan Jacob Martin won with a time of 40.05.
Then in the mile run Luke Shappell won with a time of 4:25.
In the 4 by 100 relay it got as close as it possibly could as the Wayne General’s Hill, Clark, Sharin, and Wooten beat the Panther’s Kendrell and Keron Billingsley, Juarez and pierre louis by just one one hundredth of a second at a time of 42.48.
Then in the 4 by 800 Dekalb pulled away with a time of 8:23 with runners Hefty, Hallam, Barton, and Fillenwarth.
Northrop’s Javion Westfield had a great run in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.96.
Then in the 100 meter dash their was another close call as North Central’s Christian Woodson edged out Wayne’s Davion Clark by one one-hundredth of a second with a time of 10.82.
In the distance medley Goshen’s Loera, Miller, Diaz, and Claxton were able to get the win with a time of 10:57.
In the sprint medley the Snider Panthers won with a time of 1:35. With their four runners being Billingsley, Juarez, Lee, and Logan.
As for some field events: in the long jump Angola’s Alex Meyer came away with the victory jumping 22 feet.
And in the shot put Jordan King won throwing 51 feet and 2 inches.
