Brooks, McGauley, Doerffler, McKay Propel Cadets to Victory at SAC Meet

The SAC Swim Meet took place at the Helen P. Brown Natatorium on Saturday…and it was an especially big day for Concordia

In heat three of the men’s 50-yard freestyle…Cadet Junior Finn Brooks jumps out ahead of the pack…and swims a time of 20.68 seconds…not only was that good enough for first place…but Brooks also breaks the SAC meet record time in the event…a record previously held by boys swimming coach

Brooks wasn’t done…he jumped out ahead in the men’s 100-yard butterfly…he won that event as well…swimming a time of 49.64…giving him another first-place finish…and another meet record time

Jacob McGauley was another Cadet who had a great day…his first win was in the men’s 200-yard freestyle…with a time of 1:53.92…and then he won the longest race of the day…the 500-yard freestyle…Dwenger’s Noah Maskal kept it close early on…but McGauley was able to pull away…and beats Maskal by 10 seconds…McGauley’s time was 5 minutes and 8.45 seconds…the Concordia boys took first overall…scoring a 545

On the women’s side…the first individual event went to Snider…it was a tight race in the 200-yard freestyle…but Emma Fiess beats out Concordia’s Hannah Biedess by 1.19 seconds…Fiess also won the women’s 500-yard freestyle…she beat out second-place finisher Sage Miller from North Side…by 14 seconds…Fiess’ time was 6 minutes and 2.31 seconds…the Panthers finished third overall scoring 278

Dwenger finished second place overall…Maggie Peters helped that cause…by beating Concordia’s Kiara Arthur by three seconds in the women’s 100-yard butterfly…Peters’ time was a minute and 7.2 seconds

But just like on the men’s side…Concordia’s women’s team took first overall…Lauren Doerffler led the 200-yard individual medley right from the start…she wins with a time of 2:25.09…beating fellow Cadet Savannah Swaidner by eleven seconds

In the women’s 50 yard freestyle…Concordia’s Katie McKay started out neck-and-neck with Wayne’s Sophie Huff…but McKay pulled away towards the end…and wins with a time of 25.33 seconds…just 1.63 seconds ahead of Huff…Concordia’s girls’ team scores a 414…the Cadets combined team score…was 959…for Summit City Sports…Bishop Dwenger takes second…with Snider finishing third…Northrop finishing fourth…Bishop Luers finishing fifth…North Side finishing sixth…South Side taking seventh…and Wayne taking eighth.
